From UW-Whitewater to Wedding Day
Paige from Franklin and Kenny from Kenosha met at the University of Whitewater while Paige was hanging out in the dorm room of a mutual friend. Kenny stopped by to say hi, only to find “the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen.” They became great friends, but it wasn’t until over a year later that Paige finally realized Kenny was someone she couldn’t live without. That’s when the two started dating. When Kenny proposed, he surprised Paige at home with a long-haired German Shepherd puppy named Charlie, who was wearing a ring on his collar. “Who could say no to a puppy?” Paige laughs.
Wedding Planning
Kenny and Paige planned a ceremony and reception at Historic Courthouse 1893 in downtown Waukesha, turning to CMYKnot to craft custom invitations. The couple attended the Bridal Expo at the Brookfield Sheraton to get ideas and prep for the big day. When it came time for dress shopping, Paige found her gorgeous, full-skirted gown at Bucci’s Bridal.
The Ceremony
Paige and Kenny planned a short but special ceremony at the Historic Courthouse 1893. The bride and groom wrote their own vows, had a family friend officiate, and had Paige’s aunt and uncle sing an original song. “My Aunt Kim wrote the song for us,” Paige explains. “I walked down the aisle with my dad, which made it extra special. Lots of tears were shed before and during the ceremony.”
A Snowy April Day
Alongside their photographer, Adam, from SB Photography, Kenny and Paige had planned to stop in downtown Waukesha to take some pictures — but the weather didn’t cooperate. “I guess it wouldn’t be Wisconsin without a snowstorm on April 27th! We lucked out that the venue had so many beautiful spots for pictures, so we made it work.” Paige and Kenny also stepped outside for a moment, just the two of them, to brave the cold and snatch some snowy photos. “So worth it!”
The Reception & Dinner
Paige says that what made their reception feel most special was knowing and loving everyone who was present. “It was the happiest day and night of our lives. As seen in the pictures and our wedding video, we never stopped smiling once. The open bar was a plus as well!”
Bartending came courtesy of Bartenders On The Go and dinner was catered by Chef Jack’s. “To this day, we still haven’t stopped receiving compliments about how amazing the food was. We offered six different appetizers during cocktail hour, followed by a sit-down dinner with options of filet mignon with petit mushroom and shrimp, or chicken en croute with sauce naturale.”
Stand-Out Moments & Some Advice
Paige’s favorite thing about the day, planning wise, was seeing how everything came together on the day of the wedding. Overall, the moments that stuck with her most was seeing her parents for the first time and seeing Kenny as she walked down the aisle. Her advice to brides who are currently wedding planning: “Try not to stress out. Looking back, I laugh at all the little things I chose to have meltdowns over. Just soak it all in — it really goes by way too fast!”
