Serena and Keith met when Serena rented out one of Keith’s properties for her daycare facility. “Years later, we’re ending up together!” The two now own 3041 North, an event center in Milwaukee. “Every year we host an annual New Year’s Eve celebration,” Serena says. “That’s when Keith proposed.”
The happy couple planned a New Year’s Eve wedding at their very own event space, 3041 North. The theme was both royal and celestial. No detail was left unattended to, as the entire space was draped in ethereal swathes of white fabric. Even the guests were all clad in white, adding to the heavenly scene. Towering candelabras, hanging chandeliers, and mirrored accents gave an air of drama.
During the reception, there were sparkling fireworks on the dance floor as Keith and Serena seemed to sway on a soft cloud of white smoke. The entire day was one part elaborate, one part intimate. Given that Serena and Keith own their venue, they were able to perfectly create the day of their dreams and tackle a lot of the prep and projects themselves.
“We did our own custom bouquets, boutonnieres, and fresh floral. We handled all the stationery from wedding invitations to seating charts to menus.” Serena and Keith made a vinyl backdrop as part of the decor, a custom card box, and artificial floral arrangements to boot.
The celebration began with appetizers. There were lobster spring rolls with sweet chili sauce, cucumber dill wheels, creamy cucumber avocado soup, and smoked white chili bean soup. For the main course: filet mignon with a creamy peppercorn glaze, hen stuffed with wild mushrooms, and red pepper lobster. On the side, guests enjoyed lobster mashed potatoes, lemon garlic butter asparagus, steamed broccoli, and duchess potatoes.
Serena designed the cake display herself. Her advice to other wedding planners: “Organization is key. It helps you stay on track and meet deadlines!”
