Alex’s twin brother lived with Josh in college at UW-Madison. That’s how Alex and Josh first became friends, but they didn’t start dating until after graduation. Josh proposed to Alex during a tip to Kauai, surprising her by popping the question during a sunset walk on the beach.
The happy couple planned a wedding weekend that celebrated all things Milwaukee. For their rehearsal dinner, Joshand Alex turned to Pizza Man on Downer Avenue.
On their wedding day, both the ceremony and reception were held at Glass & Griddle, also known as Venue 42, at Milwaukee Brewing Company. As with any quintessential Milwaukee wedding, photos along Lake Michigan were also a must.
For the theme of their wedding, Alex and Josh wanted to create a bohemian vibe juxtaposed against a modern, urban venue. The ceremony was held outside in the Milwaukee Brewing Company beer garden with cocktail hour on the Glass & Griddle rooftop. Food and bartending were all handled on site by F Street Hospitality.
“There were amazing cocktails and appetizers, plus the perfect weather at sunset.” Appetizers included tacos, crab cakes, meatballs, falafel, and poke from Aloha Poke. Dinner began with salads of either cauliflower or kale caesar, followed by entrees of salmon, chicken, or steak. For dessert, Josh and Alex continued the local Milwaukee love with Pete’s Pops and Purple Door ice cream cookie sandwiches.
