Brooke & Nick’s June Wedding at Lake Lawn Resort

A dream come true outdoor wedding on the shores of Delavan Lake.

From Second Grade to Forever

Brooke and Nick, both from Illinois, went to school together since the second grade. “We were always friends,” Brooke says. “But we didn’t get together until after we graduated high school. We’ve been together ever since.”

Nick proposed just before the two were set to move to Des Moines, Iowa, together. “We had a huge going-away party with all of our family and friends,” Brooke says. “Nick proposed to me in front of all the most important people in our lives. It was perfect and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”

Wedding Planning on Lake Delavan

Brooke describes their wedding style as “whimsical, garden, and vintage.” They chose a color palette of warm tones and terracotta hues—yellow, peach, orange, and blush. Brooke attended a couple of bridal shows, including the Lake Lawn Resort Bridal show, where they would host their wedding.

“I grew up with a lakehouse on Delavan Lake,” Rachel says. “Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to get married out on the lawn. Every weekend we’d see a wedding while out on the boat, and that was always my dream.”

The Perfect Dress

Brooke says she tried on about ten dresses before she found the perfect one. “I actually didn’t pick my dress to begin with. Once I was almost done, my mom pointed it out, and I was shocked I didn’t choose it to try on. I immediately fell in love with the dress. It nearly fit me perfectly, and it was by far the most comfortable. Of course it was also the most expensive, so I tried to move on and try on others. Nothing made me feel like that dress did. Everyone knew it was the one.”

Ceremony & Reception at Lake Lawn Resort

Just like Brooke always dreamed, the ceremony was held outside in June at Lake Lawn Resort. Brooke says their ceremony was beyond perfect. “My mom and step dad surprised us with an altar,” she says. “We used it for our ceremony and for a photo op during the reception. It was absolutely beautiful and by far my favorite decoration of the entire day!”

The food and drink came courtesy of Lake Lawn Resort. “It was absolutely amazing!” Rentals were provided by All Star Rentals of Muskego. Brooke says that her favorite part of the reception was the dancing. “I have never seen so many people out on the dance floor at a wedding, ever! It was truly amazing and I’ll never forget it.”
