Jena and Ryan met on Bumble after almost giving up online dating. After a few texts back and forth and a date set to get together, Jena anxiously asked if they wanted to move their date up to just a few hours away. Both agreed to meet at a Mexican Restaurant and therefore started their journey together! Fast forward to a few years later, Ryan planned a beautiful evening seeing the China Lights, ending with a romantic, yet mysterious walk down a quiet gravel road. Ryan pulled out an early birthday present, Jena thinking it was a necklace or earrings, ended up being the most beautiful pear shaped engaged ring that she obviously said “YES” to.
When planning their wedding at Foundry 45, they wanted to focus on the theme, “Choose Happy.” This was incorporated throughout different parts of their day. For their ceremony they included their entire family. Each family walked together in a group down the aisle during their ceremony. Even their fur baby, Libby, who walked down the aisle to her own song, Pretty Woman, wearing a pink tutu and tiara. Prior to the ceremony both Ryan and Jena exchanged vows privately to have a more intimate moment. During the ceremony a poem was read. To continue on the Choose Happy feeling, the couple passed their rings inside a ring box to each guest throughout the ceremony to send positive vibes and blessings on their marriage. They also created a Love Letter capsule where they asked friends and family to write a “love letter” for them. Which they will save to open and read the letters on their 5 year anniversary together.
The reception was decorated by the couple, adding many custom elements to the day. Wooden flowers were dyed to match the decor, spray painted wings were on a set of patio doors for their photo op, and colorful frames with positive quotes were turned into a gallery. Guests were also asked to dress in black cocktail attire. Allowing the immediate family to stand out in shades of red, pink and orange for the ladies and gray, and blue for the men. Lights also played an integral roll throughout the evening spread throughout the venue. Foundry 45 provided the perfect aesthetic for their day, and they knew it was their venue when they walked in. Jessica, with Foundry 45, was also a dream to work with!
Food was provided by Katy’s Log Cabin in a family style setting. Broasted chicken, beef tips, mashed potatoes and vegetables were enjoyed by guests. And for dessert a variety of bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes!
For the brides look, after trying on too many dresses to count, she found the perfect dress and overskirt at Elizabeth Jacobs Bride. A colorful pair of heels added the extra pop to complete the look.
With how quickly the day goes, Jena suggests to “Appoint someone, other than yourself, to be the go to person the day of the wedding. Someone to make executive decisions and take stress off of you. Giving the opportunity to breath and enjoy the day! Also, be intentional about having moments together throughout the day that are just you two. It’s easy to get swept up and separated. And lastly, don’t sweat the small things. Break the rules, think outside the box and it’s okay to be untraditional!”
