A Navy and Sage Wedding at The Factory on Barclay

January 22, 2025

Florals “WOW” at this Romantic and Fun Wedding at The Factory on Barclay.

How They Met

Jennifer and Matthew met in college at the University of Dayton, their freshman year. Being in the same group of friends, they eventually started dating. Dating through college and then having a long distance relationship while Matthew started work and Jennifer finished getting her Masters.

How They Got Engaged

Even after dating for almost 8 years and talks of an engagement, Jennifer was still completely surprised when the time came. Jennifer had to work over Christmas and couldn’t be with family so both her and Matthew planned a trip with family to Palm Springs after to celebrate. While visiting they went to see Christmas lights at the zoo and under the beautiful lights, Matt got down on one knee and popped the question! It was a perfect moment they could celebrate with family.

The Planning Process

Wedding Date: May 25, 2024
Guest Count: About 175
Wedding Colors: Navy Blue and Sage Green

Style and Theme of the Wedding:
“While the venue was very industrial with exposed brick and beams, the decor had a garden party vibe. With pastel flowers and gold accents.”

What was your favorite design element?
“The flowers! Reflections of You took Jennifer’s scattered thoughts and ideas and created the most amazing bouquets and installations. The garden party idea was perfectly captured with soft purples, blush pinks and big white flowers. Matthew loved the giant marquee letters of J&M displayed for photos and decor.”

Weddings Looks

Dress: Miss Ruby Bridal Boutique
Menswear: NL Suits
Bridesmaids Dresses: Birdy Grey
Hair: Melissa Waulters
Makeup: Blush by Brittany

How many dresses did you try on?
“I had an idea of what I wanted but didn’t want to make a decision without trying on a few different styles! I probably tried on 10-15 between two different stores. I knew immediately when I found my dress because I felt so comfortable and beautiful before the dress was even zipped and clipped!”

Ceremony Details

Location: The Factory on Barclay
Photographer: Leah Quinto
Photo stops: Mostly staying at the venue, with Jennifer and Matthew sneaking off to the river walk downtown for couples pictures.

Ceremony Details and Favorite Moments:
“Our ceremony was officiated by Jennifer’s uncle which was really special to add a personal touch. While it was not religious, it did include a wedding poem reading and a marriage prayer at the end. We wrote our vows together too and included a line from one of our favorite shows, “I like you and I love you!” from Parks and Rec!

Reception Details

Location: The Factory on Barclay
Food: Mission BBQ
First Dance Song:
“Until I Found You (Em Beihold Version)” by Stephen Sanchez and Em Beihold

Why Did You Choose Your Venue:
“We loved that everything was in one place. We had separate getting ready areas and plenty of space for the cocktail hour, reception and dinner without having to flip any rooms or setting anything new up!”

Reception Details and Favorite Moments:
“The reception was so fun! We snuck away during cocktail hour to take pictures by the river and loved having some time together. When we rejoined the party it was so fun to see everyone! We had amazing speeches from our family and friends, delicious food, and then dance the night away with Sound by Design playing great songs. Ending with a sparkler send off!”

Food and Drink Details:
“All catering was done by Mission BBQ and was phenomenal! We had apps for cocktail hour, a lot of BBQ for dinner and four types of individual desserts! We also had some salty snacks out for dessert; like popcorn, chips and pretzels. We aren’t cake people so having little desserts and salty snacks made the most sense to us!”

Looking Back

Three Words that Described the Day: Romantic, Fun and Happy

Biggest Wedding Splurge?
“We tried to keep a reasonable budget and not spend unnecessarily, but I am glad we decided to get a videographer. It’s so special to have recordings of our dances, speeches and the ceremony! Plus having a fun video of the day is so fun to rewatch.”

Anything You Would Have Changed?
“I would have created a separate email just for wedding items!”

Special Tips or Advice to Future Couples?
“Have fun! It’s easy to let it get stressful and overwhelming trying to plan the perfect day, especially if you lean ‘Type A’, but everything works out and it’s all about spending the day with your love and celebrating with all the people you care about!”
