“As the bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the aisle, the weather took a turn for the worst. Amidst hurricane-like winds and a downpour, Grace walked down the aisle to say “I-do.” As we looked out to our crowd in the pouring rain, we felt so strongly how invested the people who came to celebrate us were in creating a strong foundation of marriage with us. No one was leaving, despite the rain.
Then, Grace’s cousin John read an excerpt from The Apache Blessing:
“In this way, you can ride out the storms,
when clouds hide the face of the sun in your lives, remembering that even if you lose sight of it
for a moment, the sun is still there.
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter for the other,
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.
And just like that, the rain disappeared, the sun came out, and a rainbow appeared behind us. It could not have been more perfect if we had tried.”
