A Classic and Elegant Wedding at Beloit Club

April 2, 2025

Black, white, and subtle hints of blue come together for a late summer wedding celebration

How They Met

Mutual friends & the internet! Their friends were friends – and didn’t know it! Grace’s friend posted a picture of her, and Ryan direct messaged Grace as a result. The two Facetimed for hours, met for frozen yogurt one day, and then Ryan set up a private tour of the Zoo for a date. The rest was history!

How They Got Engaged

Grace and Ryan had recently moved to Ohio where they knew no one but each other. One weekend, Grace’s parents came to visit and Ryan asked them for her hand in marriage. The following month, in Grace’s home state of Wisconsin, Ryan got down on one knee in front of Grace’s immediate and extended family, with a hidden photographer to capture the entire moment.

The Planning Process

Wedding Date: September 6, 2024
Guest Count: 120
Style/Theme: Classic and elegant
Wedding Colors: Black, white, baby blue

What was your favorite design?
“We loved the way the entire venue came together. The black and white was so elegant, matching the style of The Beloit Club perfectly. We loved the subtle hints of blue that appeared throughout the florals as well.”

Weddings Looks

Dress: Genevieve’s Bridal Couture
Menswear: Generation Tux
Hair: Bryanna Durand: Bryanna Mae Hair
Makeup: Lauryn Salzwedel: Ms Lauryn Mari

How many dresses did you try on?
“I tried on 8 dresses – as soon as I put “the one” back on I saw myself walking down the aisle at Beloit Club wearing that dress. I cried thinking about how my future husband would love it and that decided everything!”

Ceremony Details

Location: Beloit Club
Photo stops: Hotel Goodwin | Beloit Club

“As the bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the aisle, the weather took a turn for the worst. Amidst hurricane-like winds and a downpour, Grace walked down the aisle to say “I-do.” As we looked out to our crowd in the pouring rain, we felt so strongly how invested the people who came to celebrate us were in creating a strong foundation of marriage with us. No one was leaving, despite the rain.

Then, Grace’s cousin John read an excerpt from The Apache Blessing:

“In this way, you can ride out the storms,
when clouds hide the face of the sun in your lives, remembering that even if you lose sight of it
for a moment, the sun is still there.

Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter for the other,
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.

And just like that, the rain disappeared, the sun came out, and a rainbow appeared behind us. It could not have been more perfect if we had tried.”

Reception Details

Location: Beloit Club
Food and Drink: Beloit Club

“The vibe of The Beloit Club was everything: warm, classic, elegant, inviting, and beautiful. We knew the outdoor ceremony with the greens background was what we had envisioned, and the reception space upstairs elevated the experience.”

Music & Entertainment: Midwest Sound DJ & Entertainment
First Dance Song: Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton

“We shared a toast using a moment from our unity ceremony to kick off the reception. We are big fans of bourbon, so for out unity ceremony we decided to each pour from a bottle we got to hand-dip during our travels on The Bourbon Trail in 2024 into a decanter gifted to us from Grace’s parents.”

Looking Back

Biggest Wedding Splurge: The venue

Which vendor impressed you the most?
“Something Borrowed Blooms was incredible – the florals were silk (and rented!) and saved us so much money without sacrificing any aesthetic component.”

Three Words that Described the Day: FUN, elegant, roll-with-the-punches

What moment sticks with you the most?
“Looking out at our crowd right after Grace had walked down the aisle. Despite the pouring rain, we felt so strongly how much our guests were there for us as we started our forever.”

What tips or advice would you share with future couples?
“Have fun with it! Pick the big things first and the rest falls into place. Do what YOU want to do, not what others want you to do. It’s your forever.”
