Couple kissing on the patio of Villa Terrace

Sofia Richie Inspired Wedding at The Pfister Hotel & Villa Terrace Museum

August 20, 2025

A Milwaukee Wedding Celebration Blending Iconic Venues, Old-Money Style, and Stunning Florals.

How They Met

Skyler and Sawyer met in high school. Both riding the same bus, it was when Skyler was getting on that Sawyer had noticed her and complimented her outfit. Telling her how cute she was, Skyler took out her phone so he could put his number in it. The rest is history!

How They Got Engaged

Halloween is a sentimental holiday for the couple, and to celebrate Sawyer took Skyler to Six Flags – Fright Fest. Not thinking anything of it, as Skyler thought that would be the last place he’d propose, Sawyer had packed the ring along in their backpack. At the end of the night as they were heading out to leave they arrived at the decorated fountain, Skyler’s favorite part of the park, where Sawyer got down on one knee and asked for her to be his wife.

The Planning Process

Wedding Date: October 11, 2024
Guest Count: 180
Wedding Colors: Warm Neutrals (Gold, Cream, Champagne and White)

Style and Theme of the Wedding: Sofia Richie – Old Money: Skyler shared that “When I saw her wedding, I knew that’s how I wanted ours to look. If she hadn’t gotten married when she did, our wedding would have looked a lot different and I don’t think I would have loved the decor as much.”

What was your favorite design element?
My favorite design element was the florals. Since our venues were already gorgeous, I wanted to keep the decorations very simple and timeless. We had very classy florals and just candles for the decor. It was really important for us to keep it simple so that when we look back at our wedding in a couple of years, everything will still look beautiful and not dated.

Weddings Looks

Dress: Mira Couture
Menswear:
 DuBois Formalwear

How many dresses did you try on?
I started wedding dress shopping with a specific design that I had seen on TikTok from the designer Kim Kassas. The dress needed to have certain requirements: it needed to have a Basque waist and it needed to be unique. I went to several wedding dress shops ranging from Green Bay, Appleton, Milwaukee, and Chicago. I knew Mira Couture carried Kim’s dresses, but her dresses are extremely expensive. I was running out of time to find my dress and with every dress I tried on, I kept comparing it to her dresses.

I eventually did go to Mira Couture and tried on the dress that I was eyeballing for months and it was very beautiful, but I could not vision myself getting married in that dress. My consultant had me try on a different dress of Kim’s and initially when I put it on, I just felt that the dress had checked all the boxes in my mind. My Mother-In-Law came with me and she started crying when I came out in my dress and told me that this dress was the one.

Ceremony Details

Location: Villa Terrace Museum & Gardens
Photographer: Emma Coss
Florist: Reflections of You

Ceremony Decor:
“Flowers and candles were the focus.”

Ceremony Details and Favorite Moments:
The ceremony was perfect. It was outside on the terrace overlooking Lake Michigan. The weather was beautiful and in the 70s with straight sun. Since the days were starting to get shorter, it was golden hour after the ceremony so our pictures turned out beautiful. My favorite part was that we could have the ceremony outside, since you never know what kind of weather you’re going to get in October in Wisconsin.

Reception Details

Location: The Pfister Hotel
First Dance Song: ‘Die with a Smile’ by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars

Why Did You Choose Your Venue:
It was suggested to me by my hair stylist back home. She attended a wedding there and said it was one of the most beautiful places she had ever seen. Plus, the aesthetic of the hotel matched my Sofia Richie vibe.”

Reception Decor:
“We continued with the flowers and candles theme.”

Reception Details and Favorite Moments:
I loved our reception as it was very elegant. The Pfister did an excellent job of making our vision come to life. During cocktail hour, there were servers handing out hors d’oeuvres on platters. I also had our DJ play elegant, vintage music such as ‘L-O-V-E’ by Nat King Cole and ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ by Elvis Presley, so that the vibes were luxurious. Every time I hear those songs now, it reminds me of the gracefulness of our reception.

Looking Back

Three Words that Described the Day:
“Beautiful, Modern and Timeless”

What Moment Sticks With You the Most?
“The weather being beautiful so that we were able to get married outside. An outside ceremony was very important to us.”

Special Tips or Advice to Future Couples?
A wedding planner. They are totally worth it and Amy did a fantastic job. It was very helpful since we lived in Green Bay, Amy was able to help plan and suggest vendors with us not being in Milwaukee.
