Reception Details
Location: The Miller Room
First Dance Song: ‘Be My Baby’ by The Ronettes’
Why Did You Choose Your Venue:
“We actually randomly toured the Miller Room as a joke because we thought it would be funny to be the Millers at the Miller Room in the home city of Miller Brewing Company! We loved that it highlighted Milwaukee’s downtown high rises, the iconic art museum, and breathtaking lake! We ended up loving the venue and it was perfectly located downtown for our many out of town guests!”
Reception Details and Favorite Moments:
“There were a few things that made our reception extra special to us. In lieu of a generations dance, we had all of our guests sit after our first dances and then all married couples stood up to start. The DJ had couples kiss and sit down after calling out certain increments of years of marriage. After 53 years, we had two couples left and everyone counted up year by year until 61 years – where both couples kissed as sat! It was such a coincidence that Drew’s grandparents (the Millers) and my aunt and uncle (the Jacobs) have each been married for 61 years! We then surprised each couple with a bouquet of roses and then invited all couples to the dance floor to honor their love.
Another fun and memorable part of the night was our Italian circle dance! My mom’s family is a very, very large Italian family. We made an announcement explaining that we wanted to celebrate with a dance to the song “Tarantella Napoletana” and invited all guests to the dance floor to form 3 concentric dance circles! It was so much fun! I’m so happy so many people joined the dance!
The last special part of the night was our live painter. Drew and I love doing art nights together and wanted to surprise our guests by having a live painter at the reception. Melissa Munger traveled all the way from Alabama and so beautifully captured us as we walked from the ceremony together! It was so fun to watch her progress through the night! She is beyond talented!.”
