Ivory and Pink Perfection: The Millers’ Elegant Wedding at The Miller Room in Milwaukee

October 20, 2025

A timeless celebration filled with soft hues, Milwaukee Art Museum views, and romantic details at Milwaukee’s historic Miller Room.

How They Met

Anna and Drew met at Foundation, a tiki bar in Riverwest. It was so dark in there that they could barely see each other, it wasn’t until their second date at The Wicked Hop in the Third Ward that they actually knew what each other looked like. Anna say’s she can’t really remember much of what they talked about, but she does remember how Drew made her feel. There was laughter, feeling relaxed and comfort. Drew knew he wanted to see Anna again as soon as possible. There next date was that same weekend!

How They Got Engaged

Drew proposed by the beach at Schlitz Audubon Center. He had both of their families hidden to surprise Anna after he popped the question on the boardwalk. The entire family then walked around the nature center together, eventually making their way to Anna’s parents house to celebrate. Arriving they were excited to call distant families to share the great news!

The Planning Process

Wedding Date: September 12, 2025
Guest Count: 128
Wedding Colors: Ivory and Pink

What was your favorite design element?
Anna loved many different elements that pulled the whole day together. From the ceremony backdrop at the Calatrava, to the table decor and linens, including table numbers that had photos of them both at each age. “Some were more embarrassing than other, but people got a kick out of them!”

Weddings Looks

Dress: White Dress Bridal Boutique
Menswear:
DuBois Formalwear

How many dresses did you try on?
“15 – Oof da! I know that’s a lot! I knew it was the one because I just kept coming back to the dress. I had initially gone shopping with my mom and tried it on, but wanted to think on it and come back with my bridal party. They each picked out a dress for me to try (including one of my flower girls), but I had asked Haley, my White Dress Bridal dress consultant, to pull the dress to try on for the bridal party. They all agreed that it just fit so perfectly and matched my personality.”

Ceremony Details

Location: The Miller Room – Zilli Gardens
Photographer: Tyler Yomantas Photography

Ceremony Details and Favorite Moments:
“We love gardening and nature, so our ceremony theme was around nurturing a marriage as you would a garden and weathering storms while growing stronger together. Our unity ceremony involved watering a bonsai tree. Drew’s parents symbolically poured water from their vase into his as my parents did the same into mine. Drew and I each poured water from our separate vases to water the bonsai tree, demonstrating how we each bring our own backgrounds, love and support from our families, and our unique characteristics into our marriage.

I think another favorite part was that every imperfection made it even more perfect! It is a very windy spot, but it ended up being the calmest day we have ever seen it; however, there was some wind that kept blowing my hair in my face. Throughout the ceremony, Drew sweetly kept tucking my hair behind my ear.”

Reception Details

Location: The Miller Room
First Dance Song: ‘Be My Baby’ by The Ronettes’

Why Did You Choose Your Venue:
“We actually randomly toured the Miller Room as a joke because we thought it would be funny to be the Millers at the Miller Room in the home city of Miller Brewing Company! We loved that it highlighted Milwaukee’s downtown high rises, the iconic art museum, and breathtaking lake! We ended up loving the venue and it was perfectly located downtown for our many out of town guests!”

Reception Details and Favorite Moments:
“There were a few things that made our reception extra special to us. In lieu of a generations dance, we had all of our guests sit after our first dances and then all married couples stood up to start. The DJ had couples kiss and sit down after calling out certain increments of years of marriage. After 53 years, we had two couples left and everyone counted up year by year until 61 years – where both couples kissed as sat! It was such a coincidence that Drew’s grandparents (the Millers) and my aunt and uncle (the Jacobs) have each been married for 61 years! We then surprised each couple with a bouquet of roses and then invited all couples to the dance floor to honor their love.

Another fun and memorable part of the night was our Italian circle dance! My mom’s family is a very, very large Italian family. We made an announcement explaining that we wanted to celebrate with a dance to the song “Tarantella Napoletana” and invited all guests to the dance floor to form 3 concentric dance circles! It was so much fun! I’m so happy so many people joined the dance!

The last special part of the night was our live painter. Drew and I love doing art nights together and wanted to surprise our guests by having a live painter at the reception. Melissa Munger traveled all the way from Alabama and so beautifully captured us as we walked from the ceremony together! It was so fun to watch her progress through the night! She is beyond talented!.”

Looking Back

Three Words that Described the Day:
“Loving, Family-Oriented and Beautiful”

What Moment Sticks With You the Most?
“The 4 speeches – my dad, Drew’s dad, the maids of honor, and the best men (both of our brothers). I think this was the moment that everything hit us. We both cried so much hearing from each of them speak. I feel so lucky to be supported by such loving friends and both families.”

Special Tips or Advice to Future Couples?
“Relax and have fun! Try to enjoy every moment! It can be stressful, but just know everything will work out the way it’s supposed to be! Also make sure to eat at your wedding! Haha”
