Colleen and Noah met through the two people that would someday be their Maid of Honor and Best Man. Colleen’s best friend and roommate had dragged her along for a coworker’s birthday party; that coworker was Noah’s older brother. The two spent the evening chatting, and the rest is history!
Noah proposed to Colleen while vacationing in San Francisco. They were taking in a view of the Golden Gate Bridge when Noah asked a passerby to snap a photo. “Noah turned to me and got down on one knee,” Colleen recalls. “We then walked along the bridge, calling all of our family and friends! We celebrated that night in Sausalito with dinner, champagne, and delicious chocolate cake.”
Noah and Colleen decided to start the new year right with a New Year’s Eve wedding. “We basically went off the New Year’s theme. Very romantic, yet exciting and fun! Our colors were navy, blush, and gold.” Colleen attended the Wonderful World of Weddings show and found her Morilee by Madeline Gardner dress at Tres Chic Bridal.
Both the ceremony and reception took place at the Chandelier Ballroom. One of Colleen and Noah’s favorite things they planned was the ceremony, which was held in the Fireside Room. “We went to dinner with our officiant, Noah’s cousin, months before the wedding and planned the entire ceremony. It was really fun watching ideas that we had only talked about become more real.”
Looking back, Colleen says the ceremony sticks with her and Noah the most. “All of the seats were filled in a very cozy and intimate room. We had five of our best friends standing on either side of us and the cutest two ring bearers and flower girl. We stood in front of the fireplace, laughed a lot, and cried a little too. Noah’s cousin told a lot of personal and funny stories. One of our favorite parts was reading our vows to each other. They were so true to our personalities and made us both laugh.”
Following the “I do”s, the party moved to the Chandelier Ballroom’s Grand Ballroom. “We had 30 tables of our closest family and friends. We both have very big families!” During cocktail hour, guests were treated to a popcorn bar from Pop N’ Spot Brookfield. Dinner, drinks, and dessert were all catered by the Chandelier Ballroom. Dinner was served buffet-style, with roasted chicken in a mushroom marsala sauce, beef tips with brown gravy, buttered corn, and mashed potatoes. Dessert was an assortment of cupcakes, cookies, apple fritters, and brownies.
To decorate the reception space, Colleen and Noah worked with Marie at Wild Elegance formerly Lightly Gypsy, who handled both the photos and the flowers. “Marie did our engagement photos, wedding photos, and floral arrangements. From the moment we met, we know we would be taken care of! She was so easy to work with.”
Following dinner, guests enjoyed a photo booth, dancing under a beautiful chandelier, and some people even made their way over to the Fireside Room to sip hot cocoa in front of the fireplace. “It was beautiful and romantic,” Colleen says. Guests left their gifts under one of the Christmas trees set up around the head table, and at midnight, the entire room watched the ball drop on a projector screen. “Ringing in the new year with all our friends and family was really something special.” The only way their perfect day could get any better: “We left the next night for Costa Rica!”
