Chef Michael Feker is a renaissance man who spreads passion and his joy of healthy cooking and eating through his roles as chef, restaurateur, television personality, culinary school teacher, director and consultant, caterer, and cooking demonstration chef.

His career in the restaurant industry spans more than three decades. Born in Persia, he’s had the benefit of experiencing food from around the world – beginning in Switzerland where he attended school as a child. He later attended San Francisco’s California Culinary Academy (CCA) and was trained in classical French style by one of the best chefs in the country, Roberto Gerometta.

In 1990 Michael opened his own restaurant in Studio City, CA. His restaurant, IL MITO, was an overnight success on Ventura Boulevard, near Hollywood film studios. It was so popular he added a second restaurant to meet the demand of Hollywood stars and studio employees alike.

After meeting and marrying his wife, he brought his IL MITO brand to Milwaukee — her hometown — in 1997. In 2006, he opened his Wauwatosa location, still going strong a decade and a half later. Since then, he has opened three more restaurants in the Milwaukee area: Zesti in Hartland, serves up global cuisine from South African to Chinese; 2 Mesa, in the Martin Drive neighborhood of Milwaukee, focuses on authentic Mexican dishes from Feker’s wife’s family recipes; and in late 2019, Feker opened IL MITO Cafe in Delafield, specializing in Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. In 2022 he acquired Dobie’s Steakhouse in St. Francis to diversify his culinary offerings.

“It’s really hard to decide on a caterer! We had actually signed with another caterer. At each meeting with them, I just felt more and more that we weren’t on the same page. So, I contacted IL MITO. The food was exactly like the food served in the restaurant, which is also one of our favorites! Jonathon and Chef were both fantastic to work with, I met with them many times and also called often, even when it was something small I was concerned about — at all times they were very open to my wants and needs... and I never felt like I was bothering them!

And on the day of the event, I went a couple of times in the morning to see everything (we had the reception at the Elm Grove Women’s Club) and they were great, even showing me different ways of napkin folding to best show off the menus we had printed! Right as the reception started we discovered that we had a few guests show that had originally declined: and I went to Jon told him we needed to add a few chairs we quickly discussed where to put them and he handled the rest with as mile and reassuring me that it was no problem!

I was trying to do all of the rentals myself, to save money, but in the end I finally asked them to get the quotes and it wasn’t going to save me anything except peace of mind! They did a fabulous job of sitting down with me to go over the exact floor plan, how we wanted the tables to look, how many bar tables, linens, any additional china, and glassware, etc. And they have a fantastic staff, including the perfect bartender!

We have been to the restaurant on several occasions since and they treat us and our friends like family. They’re really genuine!”

“First of all, let me start by saying that if Chef doesn’t advertise the heck out of his catering services, he should! My guests were fighting over the leftovers! As usual, the food was outstanding and it was very much appreciated that Chef himself came to deliver our meal and made sure that Jenna had her instructions for final prep. A high school graduation is a very important event in a family’s life and I couldn’t have been more pleased with how this meal (service and food) went off. We could not have been happier with the entire process. Setting up the event was easy. They were very quick to respond to email or phone calls.
