Winter Wedding Transformation

3 Tips on Transforming your Summer Wedding Style to a Cool & Crisp Look

July 15, 2020

Lots of brides and grooms have had to postpone their wedding days due to the COVID-19 pandemic and shutdowns.  Did you switch your summer wedding to a fall or winter wedding?  Here are some simple and affordable ideas from bridal accessory designer Genevieve Foddy of Genevieve Rose Atelier on how to do just that!

1. Adorned Locks

One of the easiest ways to winterize your wedding looks is by changing up your hair accessories.  Opt for a veil or headband in a rich fabric or texture like velvet instead of going with fresh flowers or a natural hairstyle. Or, focus on glamour with the polished and refined look of a pillbox hat or hatband.

2. Layer Up and Add Texture

There are a lot of options for brides who want a cover-up for the colder temps.  Whether you’re a trendy and stylish bride or a traditional and modest bride, there are styles appropriate for you.  Wear something for your trip to the chapel and for outdoor photos or for your entire ceremony and reception. Choose a stylish coat or faux fur cape, a beautiful sheer cape or – our favorite new bridal category and one favored by Kate Middleton – chic knitwear.  Whatever you choose, make it your own!

3. Add Glamour and Warmth

Change up your open-toed shoes for a pair of chic ankle boots in a neutral color or even a metallic to spice things up.  Consider some gloves to keep your hands warm like these long lace or point d’esprit gloves or choose a fur hand muff if the flowers you were planning on aren’t available in the winter months.
