South Second is a new Walker’s Point event space that highlights some of Milwaukee’s best. The spacious interior, designed by the award-winning firm HGA, elevates the historic industrial character of the building. High ceilings, custom-painted cinderblock walls, and functional floor-to-ceiling glass garage doors capture that trendy urban-chic aesthetic. Above the main room is a mezzanine lounge — a semi-private place to relax and chat while keeping an eye on the festivities below. A cozy bride’s room stocked with necessities makes the venue complete.
There’s no question South Second’s layout and vibe alone will be immensely popular with city-loving brides and grooms. Factor in the food, catered exclusively by Saz’s Hospitality Group, and South Second is all the more set to become a destination for Milwaukee weddings. At the space’s grand opening event, Saz’s cooked up lots of scrumptious teasers from their catering menu: passed appetizers (the bacon-wrapped dates were a crowd favorite!), small plates of chicken, fish, or a filet-and-shrimp duet, carved turkey and pork, and risotto served in a martini glass — each perfectly presented and every bit as delicious. For dessert, guests indulged in locally sourced Milwaukee favorites: Cold Spoons gelato, complete with sundae toppings, and Sprecher root beer floats.
The first wedding reception at South Second will be held on June 4th. We look forward to sharing the details of the inaugural event in a future Real Wedding post, so be sure to check back!
