A Bohemian, Romantic Wedding at fête in Wales, WI

October 2, 2024

A Perfect Blend of Rust and Emerald Green for this Fall Wedding.

How They Met

Jenna and Aleksandr were both in Jenna’s hometown of Marathon, WI. Jenna visiting her mom for her birthday and Alex there for reffing a game. Both ending up at the local bar, it was actually Jenna’s mom who got the two talking. After a shot of tequila, the rest is history!

How They Got Engaged

With the dream of having a winter wonderland engagement, Alex had his work cut out for him as it was the middle of June. Getting Jenna out of the house for the day, Alex turned their deck into a winter wonderland of their own. For a hot, summer day it ended up being everything she envisioned as Alex got down on one knee under snowflakes with their families in the grass holding marquee signs reading ‘Marry Me’.

Ceremony Details

Location: fête of Wales
Photo stops: All onsite at fête
Dog Concierge: Piccola Pups

“We loved the natural beauty of fête. We knew with how pretty the venue was itself, we would not need to spend too much on extra decorations. Not to mention, I was obsessed with the row boat ‘notebook’ moment!”

Ceremony Decor: “We loved making it completely about us. Having our dog getting to walk down the aisle was so special to us! When it came time to reading our personal vows we flipped a name coin to see who would read the vows first. Our unity ceremony was filling an hourglass with sand, as a symbol to make the most of our time. Of course we had to end with ‘beer boys’ walking out after us, handing out beer to our guests!”

Reception Details

Location: fête of Wales
First Dance Song: “The Rest of Our Lives” by Drew Green
Food and Drink: Bunzel’s Catering and Clear Water Charcuterie

Appetizers consisted of charcuterie boards, perfect for all guests to enjoy, including gluten free options for those who needed it. For dessert, a Ukrainian dessert honoring Alex’s heritage, mini peaches which was a new experience for most guests. Along with a cake from Aggie’s Bakery matching their wedding colors.

Looking Back

Biggest Wedding Splurge:

“Between the venue and photo/video is where a large portion of our budget went. But, we knew the splurges would be worth it to have the venue of our dreams and the memories to look back on.”

Vendor Who Impressed You the Most:

“They all had special moments throughout the day! From planning to flowers they all worked really well together. The day would not have been anywhere near as flawless without Wendi, who was there from the time we got to the venue to when we left. Lastly, Alex with Piccola Salon and Piccola Pups was there right away in the morning doing all of the bridesmaids hair and without missing a beat went to the hotel to pick up our pup and bring her back to the venue for the ceremony.”

What’s One Thing You Wish You Knew Before You Started Planning?

“Enjoy even the most stressful of times. Having an almost 2.5 year engagement there were a lot of times where there wasn’t a lot of wedding planning to be done, and then it would come in waves where it seemed overwhelming. Just enjoy every moment and don’t forget to make the day about the two of you and your love.”

Special Tips or Advice to Future Couples?

“Take the time to research vendors and set up meetings to make sure they are what you expect and want on your day. Make sure your personalities jive. We had vendors that seemed as they were our friends and belonged in a part of our day!”
