How They Met

Zach and Vika met back in March of 2020 on Tinder, officially starting to date that May. As a surprise to everyone, COVID-19 turned the world upside down shortly after. For them, it created a bond like no other. Being able to quarantine together gave them time to really get to know one another. Especially over their love of tacos and Criminal Minds.

How They Got Engaged

Christmas of 2022, Zach surprised Vika with plane tickets to Puerto Rico. Scheduling their trip for May of 2023, Vika’s friend, Agathe, helped Zach plan everything. It was when they were spending the day in Old San Juan and went up to Castillo San Felipe del Morro that Zach popped the question. To Vika’s surprise, Agathe even hired her friend to photograph everything! It was beautiful.

The Planning Process

Wedding Date: October 25, 2024
Guest Count: 150
Wedding Colors: Sage Green and Navy Blue
Style and Theme of the Wedding: Rustic

What was your favorite design element?
“Overall, our favorite design elements were the centerpieces. We had green and clear small vases with terrariums that were provided to us by my sister-in-law! She owns her own company called KT Elegant Events Co., where she rents out all sorts of wedding decor, signage, etc. Her decor fit our aesthetic perfectly!”

Weddings Looks

Dress: Sandra D’s in Watertown, WI
Menswear:
 Sandra D’s  – DuBois Formalwear

How many dresses did you try on?
I tried on about 6 different dresses. In the beginning of planning, when I wasn’t even looking for dresses,I was driving through downtown Watertown and saw the most beautiful dress in the store-front window. I thought that was my dress.

When the time came around to trying on different dresses, my sister and maid-of-honor picked a few off the rack for me. Funny enough, the dress my sister Anna chose is the one I ended up falling in love with. It was not the style I originally thought I would be wearing on my wedding day. The dress was tight fitting and had the most beautiful lace and beadwork all the way down the train. I felt like the most beautiful woman in the world and knew that was MY dress!

Ceremony Details

Location: Barn at Trinity Peak in Oconomowoc, WI
Photographer: Steve Bowman Photography

Ceremony Details and Favorite Moments:
“Our ceremony was my favorite part of the wedding. The venue has a loft upstairs and I knew walking down from there would be the perfect grand entrance.

Zach and I wrote our own personal vows and read them to each other in front of everyone. We were so nervous, but made everyone laugh and cry. Choosing our music for the ceremony was a key detail we wanted to make sure we got right. For our recessional we chose the song ‘June by Briston Maroney’. About 1 minute and 35 seconds into the song was the perfect time for a dip and kiss!”

Reception Details

Location: Barn at Trinity Peak
First Dance Song: ‘Bless the Broken Road’ by Rascal Flatts

Why Did You Choose Your Venue:
“The venue was gorgeous! We looked at one other venue, but the barn being as beautiful as it is, Carolyn was the key factor to us choosing Barn at Trinity Peak. She was amazing! She was so supportive and answered all of our questions about everything. We didn’t even need to hire a coordinator! Her and her staff were so easy to work with and they made sure our wedding day was perfect.

Reception Details and Favorite Moments:
“Our reception was amazing! Bob, our DJ, had everyone out on the dance floor, which was our favorite part. When meeting with Bob I told him how important it was to play our top songs. The songs we chose were not only ones that people would love but we listened to when dating. One song in particular that holds a special spot in my heart is ‘In Your Arms’ by Illenium & X Ambassadors. This song means so much to me, and Bob made sure that we had our moment and lived it! We skipped traditional garter or bouquet toss and made sure everyone danced as much as their hearts would desire.

Looking Back

Three Words that Described the Day:
“Magical, Joyful and Memorable”

What Moment Sticks With You the Most?
“The day went by so fast! The moment that stuck with me the most was walking down those stairs and seeing my soon to be husband. It was picture perfect and so hard to hold back the tears! He had the biggest smile on his face, I wish we could relive that moment 100 more times.”

Special Tips or Advice to Future Couples?
“Don’t stress too much! Things may go wrong but all that matters is you live your day in the moment – it goes by so fast.
