How They Met

Jack and Isabelle first met in the summer of 2016, when both were just 15 years old. She grew up in the Milwaukee area, while Jack was from Lake Country, which was about 30 minutes apart, yet it felt like hours of distance at that age. Jack attended MUHS, the all-boys school in Milwaukee, where he became close with many of the friends Isabelle had grown up with. Since Jack wasn’t from Milwaukee, no one in their grade really knew him. That summer before sophomore year, Isabelle’s friends were hanging out at Jack’s house and decided to invite a few girls over. Jack lived on the lake, making it the perfect summer hangout spot. Isabelle happened to be one of the three girls invited to this “mystery boy’s” house. For Isabelle, it was love at first sight. For Jack, it took a little of her personality and charm to win him over, but by the end of the night, they both knew something special had begun.

How They Got Engaged

Jack and Isabelle were up north at Jack’s family home in Lac du Flambeau for their eight-year dating anniversary. They decided to take a sunset boat ride with their dog, where Jack got done on one knee and asked Isabelle to marry him. This had always been Jack’s favorite place, which was now Isabelle’s favorite place too!

What was the style/theme of your wedding?
Yellowstone meets Country Club. A mix of elegance, a touch of elevated rustic and a feel of chic garden party.

“We had these gorgeous antler chandeliers that really tied in both Jack and I’s personality. Plus, Event Essentials provided a gorgeous conservatory tent that was breathtaking and created the event space.”

Weddings Looks

Dress: Kleinfield Bridal in New York City, NY
Bridesmaids Dresses:
AW Bridal
Menswear:
NL Suits

How many dresses did you try on?
“I had this dress in my sight and pinned on Pinterest for years. Kleinfeld sends you a catalog of dresses that I went through briefly and found a couple that I liked. Before the appointment I went through the catalog again and found THE dress I’ve pinned a thousand times. I went in, tried it on and cried immediately. I finished up the rest of my appointment trying on different styles for fun, but realistically the appointment lasted a solid ten minutes.”

Ceremony Details

Location: St. Bruno’s Church in Dousman
Photographer: Bonphotage

Ceremony Decor:
“We went simple and chic with two large flowers displays at the altar.”

Ceremony Details and Favorite Moments:
“Our ceremony was a classic church wedding. My favorite part was when we did a blessing and I could see all of our friends and family extending their arms out at Jack and I. The Love in the room was overwhelming.”

Reception Details

Location: Oconomowoc Lake Residence
First Dance Song: ‘All Again’ by Charles Wesley Godwin

Why Did You Choose Your Venue:
“Jack and I met here, Jack asked me to be his girlfriend here and we spent many days here. This place only felt right. The yard is expansive and has a great view of Oconomowoc Lake.”

Reception Details:
“We had a gorgeous conservatory tent with five antler chandeliers, a separate wood A-frame tent with a black and white checkered dance floor and stage. All of our decor had a mix of wood detailing and gold finishes. A mix of round linen tables and rustic wood rectangular tables draped with a cream chiffon table runner. On the upper patio we had an old fashion and cigar bar with unique old fashion flavorings. The mix of dusty blue, greenery, and cream really tied in the lake and greenery around the yard. We had a large light sign that spelled “love” that was a great photo opportunity. A photobooth and bonfire with smores were a big hit at the end of the night. Also, praise for a beautifully draped tunnel that was the entrance for the backyard reception with gorgeous broken flower arches above the tunnel entrances. My mother-in-law did an excellent job with the florals around the property and would not have looked as magical without her help.”

What was your favorite moment of your reception?
“Our reception was truly magical. From the old fashion bar, to our signature “baby beer” shots, table side magician during cocktail hour, to the amazing Chasin’ Mason Band and King James DJ, late night smore’s, LeDuc’s custard cart, and just magical energy on the lake. The dance floor was never empty (which was my biggest wish) and the air was just filled with so much love. I loved dancing the night away with all of my favorite people.”

Looking Back

Three Words that Described the Day:
“Gorgeous, Magical and Love”

What Vendors Impressed You the Most?
“Event Essentials really came through with our venue setup. They had to work really hard to get the right tent in the space. Also, with the only access to the backyard being a narrow tunnel, they had to get very creative with the tent setup. Shari Weber, my wedding planner, did an absolutely amazing job. She was beyond organized and had the perfect vendor recommendations. Also, the music, Chasin’ Mason and DJ King James were exceptional. All of the staff for All Occasions Catering were amazing, too. The bartenders were so fun and really made my guests feel special.”

What Moment Sticks With You the Most?
“Walking down the tunnel for our entrance as Mr. and Mrs. DuBois was beyond special – to see all of our favorite people in this stunning tent, waving napkins and hollering was so cool. Our best man and maid of honor speeches has everyone in the room bawling. The late night dance floor and us taking over the stage with our horrible singing will always be a great memory, too.”

Special Tips or Advice to Future Couples?
“Everything will work out exactly as it is supposed to be and just enjoy the day because it goes by so fast!”
