How They Met

Austin and Sydney met in their last year of college, through friends. They immediately clicked as athletes and have had an easy relationship ever since.

A Family Dinner Turned into a Family Proposal

Austin and Sydney had just bought a house together and the day after they had moved in, their families had planned to get together for dinner at one of their favorite restaurants on the lake. Austin told Sydney that he had gotten a text saying that their families were going to be a little late, so he suggested they walk down to the pier where they saw a couple working on their boat, along with one of the lake tour boats. Austin asked Sydney to remind him what sorts of events the tour boat hosted and as she went down the list and said weddings, he interrupted saying “Well, it’s so funny you talk about weddings because…” “I turned around and he was on one knee. The rest of what was said was a blur!” After I said yes Austin pointed out that the couple working on the boat were actually our photographers who had captured the entire thing and our families came hooting and hollering out of the restaurant to congratulate us!”

Making Sure the Dress was “The One”

Sydney bought her designer All Who Wander dress at Bon Bon Belle, in Burlington, WI. She was admittedly very picky about her dress, trying on almost 20 dresses! She knew that she did not want to settle, and she knew that when she saw the one, she would know. She was right. “I knew it was the one from the moment I even saw it on the hanger, before the people I brought with me saw it I said it was the one; it was me, it had everything I was looking for, and it was actually comfortable!”

Guest of Honor

Another one of Sydney’s favorite parts of the ceremony was having her Aunt Becky, who has special needs, as her flower girl. “It was so special to have her be a part of that day, and it made all of our hearts happy to see her reactions to everything!”

A Venue with It All

Sydney and Austin chose Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, WI for both the ceremony and reception. They loved the view, the cleanliness, the staff, and the fact that the resort allowed guests to have all they needed on location – no need to worry about drinking and driving.

Out of the World Cuisine

The wedding was also catered by Lake Lawn Resort, and it was excellent! “Every guest we saw after our wedding echoes the same thing; how stations/buffet style was the way to go, and that plated food is out!”

Lounging It Up

A unique addition to the wedding was from on of the vendors, Parker Drive. They were able to create a little lounge in the reception space that people could use for photos and to look at the pictures of the loved ones who weren’t able to make it. They were even able to “have a drink” with them since they had put each person’s favorite drink and items reminiscent of who they were by him/her.

DJ Makes the Day

The couple chose DJ Felix Entertainment to get the party started and he did not disappoint. “He added these amazing sparkler machines for our first dance and grand entrance which totally elevated the experience and pictures!”

Favorite Moments

Although Sydney and Austin had many favorite memories of the day, their favorite part was the fact that everything was unique. “Austin and I made it all our own, from our officiant to everything that was said/read, we thought it through and made it intentional and something for us. Not generic or anything that we have seen/heard thousands of times before. We kept it about us and our values.”

Advice to future brides~

“Step back if you can and let others help, get a wedding planner if you are able. Make a time schedule and stick to it the day of. On the day of, at least two times, sneak away just the two of you to soak it in. Don’t forget ultimately this is your day – make it what you want, relax and enjoy!”
