A Stunning Wedding Celebration Overlooking the Milwaukee Skyline.
How They Met
Adam and Mary grew up just missing each other in timing for almost their entire lives. Both going to Brookfield East High School together, but never meeting; had mutual friends, who never introduced them; growing up only a 5 minute drive away from each other’s homes, walking the same paths; and even working at the same gym at the same time, but different hours worked. You’d almost call it destiny to meet at some point as finally, they crossed paths for the first time outside at the Deer District while watching a Bucks game in the summer of 2021.
Adam and his friends were walking around outside of the Milwaukee Bucks stadium, where he was scanning for familiar faces in the crowd of around 35,000 people, when one girl caught his eye (it was Mary). Through the wonders of the internet, Mary and Adam had started talking to each other, but had never met before. Taking almost every ounce of courage Adam had, he told his friends that he would meet back up with them, and walked up to Mary and her friends. Tapping Mary on the shoulder, Adam said “Hey”. Mary was so surprised, it looked as if she saw a ghost. Nervously talking for a minute, until Mary’s friends broke the ice with mutual conversations. Soon after, their first date was had and the rest is history!
How They Got Engaged
On the night before they got engaged, Wisconsin got hit with the worst snow storm of the winter taking down trees and power throughout a large part of the city. Unfortunately, the power outage hit Adam’s house, and the woodworking studio where Adam had planned a date to kick off the engagement day.
Adam, not wanting to wait another day to start married life with Mary, rolled out Plan B. He picked Mary up to take her out to brunch and after finishing the meal, suggested they make a stop at his house – which was still out of power – to pick up ingredients to make cookies over at Mary’s. Adam needed a reason to get her to his house, since there was the surprise of a lifetime waiting for Mary. Luckily, Mary thought none the wiser and agreed.
Once back at Adam’s house, he asked for some help grabbing the ingredients. After opening up the door, she saw that Adam’s house was transformed. He had spent the day before rearranging his home with countless candles, rose petals spread across the floor, and a white carpet that led to an engagement ring and two bouquets of flowers by its side. Adam walked Mary down the white carpet path with candles lighting up the room, grabbed the engagement ring, and asked if she would spend the rest of her life with him. Adam felt like the luckiest man in the world when she said YES.
After popping the question, Adam revealed that even though there were over 200 candles lit, one candle was untouched. Earlier in their relationship, they had made custom candles in Milwaukee at Glassnote Candle Bar, and Adam named his candle “Hidden Lookout”, the location of where they made their relationship official. Adam had never lit the candle before, waiting for a significant moment. Together they lit the candle for the first time, right after Mary said yes to the engagement.
