Love Takes Flight
Mike and Tammy met in college at UWM. During a tip to Arizona, Mike asked Tammy to be his bride. “We took a helicopter ride, and the pilot knew Mike’s plan before taking off,” Tammy says. At one point, the helicopter landed so Tammy and Mike could take in the view. The pilot led the couple to a scenic lookout and offered to take their picture. Mike surprised Tammy by getting down on one knee, and the pilot captured everything on camera. “Upon our return from the helicopter ride,” Tammy recalls, “all the workers at the airport cheered in excitement from the news of me saying yes.”

The First Look: A Favorite Moment
Before the ceremony, Mike and Tammy did a first look. “It was a time just for us, where we were able to share some moments together before we officially became husband and wife.” Tammy feels it was particularly special to be able to see Mike’s face when he turned around and saw her in her gown from Savvy Bride. “I would have missed his reaction from far away, walking down the aisle.”

A Milford Hills Wedding
Milford Hills in Johnson Creek is nestled among nearly 500 acres of picture-perfect countryside. That’s where Tammy and Mike chose to have their rustic-themed wedding. Everything from the ceremony to photos to the reception took place on-site at Milford Hills.

“Our ceremony was non-religious but had a mixture of Jewish tradition, such as breaking a glass.” For a unique unity ceremony, the bride and groom shared a drink of pear vodka and lemonade. “I poured the vodka,” Tammy says, “while Mike poured the lemonade, then we drank from the glass together.”

Special Little Things
What little things made Mike and Tammy’s wedding so special? For starters, rain delayed the ceremony by about 45 minutes. “However, there was a room that had some of the most amazing lighting at that time, and because of the rain, we got some of our favorite photos of the day.”

For dessert, there was a small bride and groom cake from Sweet Perfections. Guests were treated to a fireworks show and sparkler surprise after sunset. “We also had a horah dance, where many of our guests learned the dance and took part in this Jewish tradition.” Tammy and Mike also took dance lessons to make their first dance all the more memorable. The bride and groom agree that those lessons were one of their favorite things they planned for their wedding.
