Be Beautiful but be a comfortable bride

Be Beautiful, But be a Comfortable Bride

November 21, 2018

As someone who has officiated over a thousand weddings, I have seen many beautiful brides attired in gowns of all styles, fabrics and designers. The greater share of which came off perfectly for the season and location of the wedding.

However, there have been some instances where the bride’s dream dress didn’t perform exactly how she had hoped and planned. That results in a very uncomfortable bride. And that is not what you want to be on your wedding day.

Depending on where your wedding will take place, it is important to consider the time of year. I have officiated outdoor winter weddings in the South when a cold spell dropped into the 30’s and 40’s and the bride was wearing a backless, sleeveless gown. Vows are very hard to say when your teeth are chattering and your lips are so cold you cannot form the words you want to speak.

Be Beautiful but be a comfortable bride

Adversely, outdoor summer weddings can have their own issues to contend with. A formal ball gown in 90 plus degree heat can create a veritable steam box resulting in dehydration and near heat exhaustion for the bride.

The bottom line is you want to choose the best dress for your dream look. So if it is a winter wedding, make sure to have a shawl or wrap to go along with your gown. Just in case there is a cold drop moving thru. If it is a summer wedding at the beach, think about lighter fabric and fewer crinolines. Be beautiful, but be comfortable. It is much easier to enjoy your wedding when your are comfortable. And you will want to remember your wedding day for all the right reasons, not for the discomfort you may have incurred.
