Jessica & Justin’s Rustic Farm at Dover Wedding

After a full day of traveling home from Italy, Justin proposed right when Jessica opened the door to walk back into their home. “He was too nervous to travel with the ring,” Jessica says. “Plus, this way our parents could be present for the proposal.”

The two planned an October wedding with a rustic farmhouse vibe at The Farm at Dover in Kansasville, Wisconsin. Jessica found her dress at Bella Bianca’s. They went with a color scheme of dusty and navy blue. Due to COVID, some of the bridesmaids’ dresses were backordered and postponed to ship after the wedding. “Some of the girls ended up in dresses they didn’t choose, but they were all so awesome about it with no complaints!”

Covid Precautions

In addition to dresses being delayed, wedding planning was even more stressful than usual thanks to Covid. “We had to worry about safety in every aspect,” Jessica says. “We ordered medical masks for guests, sat people in groups we knew they’d be interacting with throughout the night, supplied hand sanitizer, and had to be flexible with planning as things were constantly evolving and changing.”

Farm at Dover Ceremony & Reception

The ceremony started at 3:15. “We had the ceremony outside right before it rained! It was short and simple. We read our own vows.” Jessica says one of her favorite moments of the day was taking photos alone with Justin, captured by DeGroot Film Co.

Dinner was catered by Chef Jacks. “Food was scrumptious! Drinks were endless. Desserts were cupcakes individually boxed—our idea, because of Covid.” To set the scene, Justin and Jessica added some DIY touches through the popcorn cart, signage, centerpieces, and guest favors.

Jessica’s advice in the end:

“Invite people who you love and who love you just as much back! It’s your big day. Enjoy it, enjoy the people, and eat the food—it’s amazing!”
