Tan and Sage Wedding at Milford Hills Hunt Club

Copper & Pampas Grass Accent a Rustic Wedding at Milford Hills in Johnson Creek.

How They Met

Taylor & Aaron met when they were 16 years old, through Taylor’s cousins that Aaron went to high school with.

How They Got Engaged

Taylor & Aaron were on a guided ice fishing trip up north at Aaron’s family cabin. Unsure of what lake the guide was going to take them to, they soon figured out they were headed to one of Aaron’s favorite lakes he grew up fishing on since he was a little kid. The last fish of the night was caught by Taylor at sunset, and as Aaron knelt down to take a photo with Taylor and her fish, he pulled a ring out of his pocket and asked Taylor to marry him!

The Planning Process

Wedding Date: September 14, 2024
Guest Count: 225
Wedding Colors: Light Tan and Dusty Sage
Style and Theme of the Wedding: Country, Hunt Club

What was your favorite design element?
“The floral installation with arch accents, and the whiskey barrel toppers at the aisle entrance.”

Weddings Looks

Dress: Patrice by Catherine Rose
Bridesmaids Dresses: David’s Bridal

How many dresses did you try on?
“20 – To be honest I did not get that overwhelming feeling that people say you get immediately when you try on your wedding dress. I tried mine on and it was the fit I knew I was looking for, a more fitted style to my body, spaghetti straps, as well as lots of sparkle. I also knew I wanted a bright white dress.”

Ceremony Details

Location: Milford Hills
Coordinator: Heidi Ott with Milford Hills
Photographer: Red Plum Photography

Ceremony Details and Favorite Moments:
“Our ceremony was short and sweet. With the weather ending up being a very hot afternoon, we wanted to be sure guests were comfortable. My favorite part of our ceremony was the pheasant release we did at the end. Together we released the pheasant in the air at the alter and all watched as it soared away. This was our ‘two-becoming-one’ element of our ceremony.”

Ceremony Decor:
“I made my own decor; large copper jugs with tall pampas grass and dried eucalyptus.”

Reception Details

Location: Milford Hills
Food & Beverage: Milford Hills
First Dance Song:
Forever to Me by Cole Swindell

Why Did You Choose Your Venue:
“Milford Hills was the one and only venue that we toured and we were sold right away. Being that we love to hunt, the vibe of the place just fit our lifestyle perfectly. The ease of wedding planning with it being an all-inclusive venue, as well as having Heidi Ott there as an event coordinator who was there the day of and along the way, was such a relief. We loved that the bar service, food, ceremony site and getting ready areas for the bride and groom were all on site. The food and drink packages were very easy to understand and offered a huge variety of choices for different budgets and wedding sizes. We also rented the clubhouse where the groom and groomsmen stayed the night before. The morning of the wedding they were able to wake up and do clay shooting while the girls were getting ready. It was convenient that they have showers and locker rooms on-site for the men to clean up after a day of fun. Aaron and I then stayed in the lodge the night of the wedding.”

Reception Details and Favorite Moments:
“We repurposed the decor from our ceremony for our reception. The centerpieces and table numbers were also created by myself out of small copper vases and dried pampas grass. In the vases we included pheasant feathers that were from birds our two yellow Labrador retrievers hunted.”

Looking Back

Three Words that Described the Day:
“Romantic, Fast and Memorable”

What Moment Sticks With You the Most?
“The ceremony and finally seeing my husband as I was walking down the aisle. Aaron’s uncle was the officiant which made it extra special.”

What Vendors Impressed You the Most?
“Milford Hills was outstanding. They take care of so much themselves and you can tell how experienced Heidi is with perfecting wedding days all around.”

Special Tips or Advice to Future Couples?
“Don’t sweat the small stuff. You won’t remember half the day unless you decide to just trust your planning and know it will all work out how it was intended to. Enjoy living in the moment!”
